In 2004 Tiaan Maritz and Ray Olsen combined their considerable experience in the
Insulated Panel and Door manufacturing industry to establish IDS in a 1 000 sq.meter
rented factory at Blackheath in the Western Cape.
Identifying a demand for competitively priced cold rooms they initially focused on
securing a substantial share of this market in addition to manufacturing their innovative
insulated doors. To be able to offer quality at competitve prices and thereby ensure
customer satisfaction, IDS chose from day one to fully manufacture all its products
Demand was such that by their second year they had to double the size of their premises;
and continued growth enabled the company, in 2008, to purchase and equip their own
4 500 sq.meter factory nearby.
IDS have recently purchased an adjacent 4 000 sq.meter plot on which they have erected
a further factory and warehouse. This accommodates their newly established wholly
owned subsidiary IPM which manufactures block and sheet polystyrene to meet both
IDS's and industry needs.
IDS’s cold rooms remain in demand and introduction of their competitively priced,
quality structural Insulated panels, doors and associated products has led to export
orders and entry in to many new markets. These include, controlled atmosphere rooms,
temperature controlled breeding rooms and warehouses. IDS's seeks to offer prompt,
inovative, cost effective solutions to fulfill customer requirements.
